A day in the life of a
junior recruiter at Highline

Hey, I’m Kathy 👋🏾

As a junior recruiter my job is to identify, contact and preselect the right profiles for our various clients. But here is a sneak peak at what my life is like as a junior recruiter at Highline.

9:00am : Every morning, we grab a coffee together. Have a quick chit chat about the football match last night, trash tv on Netflix and the latest adventure of Alan’s new dad-life. Then it’s onto business! What are the most urgent positions, interviews and the priorities of the day.

9:30am : Now let’s get going on my morning routine. I prefer to deal with all my emails first thing as you never know what the day will bring later on. Then getting all new job applications processed onto our global CRM is a big priority as we need to make sure everyone gets a reply and we must react quickly for our client’s requirements.

10:30am : All applications are processed, the top profiles are now identified. I move on to telephone interviews, a step that I particularly appreciate! This is a great opportunity to see how the jobseekers present themselves, discuss their motivations and above all, understand their expectations in order to be able to present them to our recruiters for face-to-face or video interviews.

12:00pm : Meeting with the recruiters, it’s time to present them the profiles that I have contacted and that seem really interesting to me. We review the CV’s and portfolio’s together as well as my interview notes.

1:00pm : Time for lunch! When the sun is shining, we often bring our own food to have a little picnic on the steps of the Opera, which are located just in front of our offices. If it rains (as it often does in Paris), we have lunch at a restaurant all together. We are well placed and spoiled for choice but we usually head to the Korean BBQ. 🥢

2:00pm : All good things come to an end! I go back to my desk, get a little coffee and start sourcing. Sourcing is crucial to identifying the right profiles either in our database or directly on the internet, for example LinkedIn, using very specific criteria. These were shared with us by the recruiters during the daily meeting.

3:30pm : One of the recruiters and myself have a quick client meeting at their office close by. This is one of the best parts of the job 😃

4:30pm : Back in the office, I write the job advert of a new position that the client presented and publish them on our site as well as on the various job boards. This will allow me to have applications the next day to contact. In addition, I also create a couple posts for our social networks such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram. The team gets full control of these social channels as it’s a great way to share each personality in the office and different ways of thinking.

5:30pm : The day is over, I put away my computer, my phone, my notes and take them with me because tomorrow we are teleworking.. but now I’m off to the gym for my “workout of the day” class. 💪🏾
